I met this beautiful human when I was 16 years old. We attended college together, taught together, and even lived together for a short time. She is known to my kids as Aunt Mina or Aunt Amanda. She has always been there for me, a sounding board, and a voice of wisdom amongst the noise. Our oldest daughters nursery was painted green in honor of Amanda.
I have actually never got to take pictures of Amanda before, but when she told me she was pregnant I was over the moon that she asked me to capture this special moment for her family. We worked together on picking out the right outfit not just for her but for her whole family. We also discussed and researched several locations options. It is challenging to find a location that is not the beach in Southwest Florida.
We decided upon the Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve (East). I have shot here several times and a photographer friend of mine has had several sessions here as well. There are several spots to choose from, the oak trees, the tall grass, and the board walk areas.
The day I took these pictures we had just driven in from Atlanta. It rained the whole way from Atlanta to Sarasota that day, the traffic was a bear, we left late, and I pulled in with just enough time to brush my teeth grab a snack and my equipment. Not my normal pre-routine for a shoot, but I am still happy with how they turned out. Check out some of my favorites below.
